To connect PRAL for FBR digital invoicing, complete six steps: confirm you are in scope under the current SRO, register Digital Invoicing in IRIS, choose PRAL or another licensed integrator, whitelist IPs and pass sandbox scenarios, move to production credentials, then post live invoices and print the FBR number and QR. This walkthrough follows FBR's Digital Invoicing User Manual and FAQs - not marketing shortcuts.
Step 1 - Confirm you are in scope
Check the current Board notification table (today that means starting from SRO 1852; treat SRO 1413 as historical). Scope depends on entity type and declared turnover in sales tax returns. When in doubt, verify against the PDF on FBR.gov.pk - not an old FAQ quote of SRO 709.
Step 2 - IRIS Digital Invoicing registration
Log in to IRIS and complete the Digital Invoicing registration. Provide technical contacts, ERP / invoicing system details, hosting type, and business nature. No physical visit to FBR is required for integration (FBR FAQ).
Step 3 - Choose PRAL or a licensed integrator
FBR publishes a list of licensed integrators. PRAL can provide free integration services including sandbox testing; other integrators may charge configuration fees (not an FBR fee). Your invoicing product (such as Taxora.pk) must work through the integrator path you select. Background: what PRAL integration means.
Step 4 - IP whitelist + sandbox scenarios
Whitelist the server IPs that will call PRAL, obtain a sandbox token, and complete scenario-based tests for your sector. Fix HS code / UOM / buyer NTN or CNIC issues in sandbox before production. Details: sandbox & IP whitelisting.
Step 5 - Switch to production credentials
Once every sandbox scenario passes, request the production token and point your software at the production endpoint. Keep sandbox and production credentials separate so test invoices never reach FBR's live system.
Step 6 - Post live invoices and print the FBR number and QR
Each live invoice should be validated, then posted. Store the returned FBR invoice number and QR data on the PDF you give customers (QR printing rules). Adjustments use debit/credit notes - see debit & credit notes.
What are the most common PRAL connection mistakes?
- Treating Excel as the only system of record with no PRAL-connected post.
- Skipping buyer NTN/CNIC rules for unregistered distributors (see Sales Tax Act s.23 discussion in FAQs).
- Going live without staff who can read PRAL validation errors.
- Planning against superseded SRO dates from an old blog or FAQ answer.
Where does Taxora.pk fit?
Once IRIS and PRAL onboarding are underway, Taxora.pk is the create → validate → post → QR PDF workspace (with bulk Excel on eligible plans). See features, how it works, pricing, or request a WhatsApp trial - trials are activated by our team, not instant self-serve.
عام سوالات
Do I need to visit an FBR office to connect PRAL?
No. FBR FAQs state no physical visit is required for integration. Registration happens in IRIS and technical onboarding happens with PRAL or your licensed integrator.
What usually fails in the PRAL sandbox?
HS code and UOM mismatches, wrong buyer registration type, missing or invalid buyer NTN/CNIC, and incorrect sale type or rate for reduced-rate and Third Schedule items.
Can I keep using Excel after connecting PRAL?
Excel can be an input, but it cannot validate or post to FBR by itself. Invoices must be posted through the PRAL or integrator path so FBR returns an invoice number and QR data.
