After a successful post, FBR returns an invoice number and data used to print the Digital Invoicing logo and QR code. Buyers, auditors, and your own warehouse staff all depend on that PDF looking right. Here is what to print, what to store, and the mistakes that create “posted but unusable” invoices.
What you get back on a successful post
- FBR invoice number - the unique identifier for the electronic invoice
- QR / DI logo printing data - as specified in FBR DI technical documentation
- Status confirmation - acceptance vs validation errors (errors mean do not ship that PDF)
Official rules live in the DI API / user manuals on FBR’s site. Software should persist the response fields so you can reprint months later without calling FBR again from memory.
What the customer-facing PDF should include
- Your normal commercial invoice content (seller, buyer, lines, taxes)
- The FBR invoice number in a readable place
- The DI logo and QR as required by FBR printing guidance
- Clear document date and references for returns / notes later
Do not invent a “QR-looking” graphic. Use the payload FBR returned. If validate failed, there is nothing legitimate to encode.
Common printing mistakes
- Printing from draft Excel before post succeeds
- Cropping the QR so scanners fail
- Storing only a screenshot, not reprintable data
- Mixing sandbox QR examples into live customer packs
- Losing the FBR number when regenerating stationery
Operational habit that saves audits
Make “post accepted → then print” a hard gate. Warehouse stickers and email PDFs should pull from the posted record. That is the same discipline behind Taxora.pk’s create → validate → post → QR PDF loop (how it works).
Debit and credit notes
Adjustments usually reference the original FBR invoice number. If your PDFs never stored it, notes become painful. Read debit & credit notes under DI.
FAQ
Is the QR optional if I already have an FBR number?
Follow FBR’s current printing requirements - the QR/DI logo package is part of the published DI rules, not a decorative extra.
Can I email a PDF without QR for “internal use”?
Internal drafts are fine as drafts. Anything you treat as the tax invoice for the buyer should match posted DI output.
